A Koöko Fleurs Feel Good Art Escape - Créez, Savourez, Papotez !
There are places in Paris that feel like a small exhale — a gentle pause in the middle of the city’s rhythm. La Papoterie, tucked near métro Sentier, is one of those rare sanctuaries where color, play, and calm coexist effortlessly.
I arrived in the afternoon, after a quiet visit to the Musée Bourdelle, still carrying the softness of sculpture and shadow. But the moment I stepped inside La Papoterie, everything shifted.
What struck me first were the colors — bright, joyful, inviting. A palette of playful tones that instantly lifted the mood, like entering a creative playground designed for adults who forgot they were allowed to have fun.
A Cozy, Playful, Stress‑Free Space
The atmosphere is warm and ludique — a place where creativity feels light, not intimidating.
The team, all dressed in black, welcomed me with kindness and calm. They answered every question with ease, creating a sense of safety and simplicity. No pressure, no performance — just the pleasure of making something with your hands.
The space itself is spacious and well‑organized, with long tables, shelves of ceramics, and tools arranged like small invitations to explore. Groups chatted softly, couples leaned over their pieces, and a few solo creators — like me — found quiet joy in the process. It’s also a popular spot for team‑building, which explains the lively yet grounded energy.
The Process: Simple, Accessible, Joyful
One of the things I love most about La Papoterie is how accessible it is.
You don’t pay for the session — you only pay for the object you choose.
No hidden fees, no pressure. Just 2h30 of creative freedom.
The team begins by explaining the materials, the brushes, the tools, and the ceramic palette — each color and texture labeled by hand, like a secret code for beginners and seasoned makers alike.
The Heart I Chose
Among all the pieces, a heart caught my eye immediately.
They had just placed it on the shelf and named it after their boss — a sweet, human detail that made me smile. I painted it slowly, letting the colors guide me, and finished within an hour. A small, tender creation that felt just right.
Once finished, you leave your piece behind for firing — a month of waiting, a month of anticipation. A gentle reminder that some things take time.

Why You Should Go
Whether you come with friends or family, La Papoterie invites you to let your creativity flow over an afternoon treat, through a joyful DIY ceramic‑painting activity — “100% handmade with love.” You’re welcome to paint everyday pieces such as mugs, plates, bowls, or vases; there is truly something for every taste and every budget. The atmosphere is convivial, warm, and above all, colorful. Designed with the help of decorator Elise Cavard, the space blends sophistication with rustic charm: black‑and‑white 70s‑inspired tiles underfoot, an explosion of colors on the walls, a paint‑splattered step ladder in one corner, a smooth concrete sink on the side, vintage school chairs, and raw wooden shelves.
La Papoterie is the vision of Laura, a lover of craftsmanship who discovered this concept years ago in Canada and decided to open her own café‑atelier in Paris. The first Papoterie was born in 2016, in a small shop in the 11th arrondissement. Coline joined the adventure in 2019, and together they welcome you into a singular café where people chat, paint, and savor Coline’s delicious homemade treats. The furniture is simple and unpretentious, giving the space a nostalgic, back‑to‑basics feeling that aligns beautifully with the values of La Papoterie: honoring and supporting the work of French pottery artisans.

The décor is simple yet joyful, relying on the vibrant colors of the creations made by the “papoteurs.” You’ll find shelves filled with beautiful ceramics, including an entire wall adorned with the most stunning plates. It’s also an ideal place for a festive event such as a bachelorette gathering or a team‑building session, where creativity becomes a shared celebration.
La Papoterie is not therapy — and that’s precisely why it feels so therapeutic.
It’s a feel‑good art escape, a sanctuary where you can reconnect with your hands, your senses, your inner child. Whether you come alone or with others, the experience is grounding, joyful, and deeply relaxing.
If you’re looking for a moment of softness in Paris, a place to breathe, play, and create — this is it.
